Which Amazon Pages Do AI Engines Cite?

7,270 links to Amazon’s store in AI answers, July – September 2026.

Product pages lead, but AI also cites Amazon search results

Almost half the links aren’t product pages. 47% point to Amazon’s own search results and Best Sellers lists, which show many products at once and suit “best” and “top” questions.

Perplexity cites search results as often as product pages (39.3% vs 39.2%). Google AI Overviews prefers product pages (47.3%).

Not just amazon.com: amazon.com gets 77% of the links and amazon.in 17%. Brands selling in India should check their amazon.in listings, not only amazon.com.

🔥 Key Finding

If you don’t show up in Amazon’s own search for your main product terms, AI engines won’t find you there either.

What This Means for Brands

Treat your listing as an AI page

Google AI Overviews and Perplexity quote Amazon product pages directly. Clear titles, full specs and steady reviews give them something to use.

Rank inside Amazon

47% of Amazon links are search results and Best Sellers lists. Appearing there for your main terms puts you in AI answers too.

Don’t rely on Amazon for ChatGPT

ChatGPT cites Walmart about 12× as often as Amazon. Keep full product details on your own site and on Walmart, Target and The Home Depot.

Check every month

Perplexity switched Amazon on in a single month while Google cut back by 42%. Track where your products are cited as it changes.

How often do AI engines cite Amazon?

From July to September 2026, Amazon’s store received 7,270 of 1,463,685 citations in the AI answers we track (0.50%), making it the #7 most-cited website overall. In answers for ecommerce brands its share was 0.99%.
Google AI Overviews. Amazon received 2.13% of its citations in shopping answers and was its #5 most-cited website. Perplexity follows with 1.74% (#6).
Rarely. Amazon’s store received 0.07% of ChatGPT’s citations in shopping answers, and ChatGPT cited Walmart about 12 times as often. Amazon has blocked OpenAI’s web crawlers from its site, which is a likely reason. When ChatGPT does cite Amazon, it is usually AWS or Amazon’s seller and advertising websites.
Not the store. Gemini has not linked to an Amazon product, search or category page since March 2026. Its Amazon citations are mostly Amazon Business pages. Gemini shows shopping results as product cards, which our data records as image links, so it may still show Amazon products in other ways.
Product pages (42.4%), Amazon search results (31.5%) and Best Sellers lists (15.4%). Perplexity cites search results as often as product pages; Google AI Overviews prefers product pages.
We counted citations to Amazon’s store websites (amazon.com, amazon.in, amazon.co.uk and other country stores) in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews answers from July to September 2026. “Shopping answers” are answers to prompts tracked for 265 ecommerce websites. Monthly trends use only websites tracked in every month from April to September.
